How long is the sailing season?
We start sailing in April and will continue through October.
Is there racing?
Yes! We have a Tuesday night racing series with our J80s. We are participants in the Liberty Yacht Club Wednesday night racing series and we participate in local Regattas throughout the season.
What if I am a beginner sailor?
We are a member teaching member club where we all enjoy sharing our skills. As a beginner sail, you would jump onboard with a Skipper member and the club has a myriad of ways for you to do that.
What kind of social gatherings do you have?
Our Pier 12 has been transformed into our private gathering space. We have potluck dinners, after racing socializing, award ceremonies and membership appreciation parties among other things.
How do I become a Skipper member?
We ask that you develop your sailing skills and then head out on the water with one of our Sailing Instructors to get certified. There are many skills that are specific to our sail area such as docking, judging current and precautions to take when weather events come in. The more general skills include execution of a man overboard drill, outboard engine usage and what to do in case of an emergency.
What if I join today? Is membership pro-rated?
Yes! Your membership is for 12 months so you can enjoy the season you missed next year Think of how much farther along your skills will be at that point!
